Watford beat Derby County with a thumping 2-1 victory on Friday at Vicarage Road. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Watford were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches against Preston North End away and Bristol City at home, by 1-0 and 6-0 respectively while Derby County were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Wycombe Wanderers and Middlesbrough. As it stands, Watford are in 3rd place, with 57 points from 31 matches, while Derby County sit in 17th, with 34 points from 31.
Watford dominated the first half, following a goal from Joao Pedro, 19 minutes in. Later, Watford scored again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Will Hughes, 21 minutes in, thereby seeing the first half to a 2-0.
Derby County took the lead in the second half, beginning with William Troost-Ekong opening the scoring, 77 minutes in, sealing a resounding 2-1 victory for the home side.
