Luton Town fell to an away defeat at the hands of Stoke City at Bet365 Stadium on Saturday. Stoke City were looking to pick up points, following a 1-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday. Luton Town were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Cardiff City. As it stands, Stoke City are in 9th place on the table and has 45 points while Luton Town sit in 16th with 37 points after 31 matches.

The first half of the game started favourably for Stoke City, with Nick Powell opening the rout in the 21st minute, finalising the first half with a 1-0.

Stoke City continued to apply pressure the second half and were rewarded, with Nick Powell opening the scoring after 63 minutes. Later, Stoke City scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Steven Fletcher in the 78th minute, and the game ended 3-0.

For Stoke City, Sam Clucas, John Mikel Obi, James McClean, Jack Clarke and Sam Vokes came on for James Bree, Ruddock Pelly, Martin Cranie, Harry Cornick and James Collins, while Luton Town brought on Joe Morrell, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Danny Hylton, George Moncur and Elijah Adebayo to replace James Bree, Ruddock Pelly, Martin Cranie, Harry Cornick and James Collins.

There were bookings for Jacob Brown from Stoke City and James Collins and Glen Rea for Luton Town.

Stoke City will next play Barnsley away, with Luton Town facing Millwall at home.
