Venezia’s 3-1 win over Chievo on Saturday, was hard fought at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Venezia were looking to get back winning ways after losing their last game 2-1 to Salernitana. CHI lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Cittadella. Following today’s result, Venezia are currently 5th with 56 points from 35 matches, while CHI sit in 8th, with 49 points from 35.

Venezia started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Crnigoj finding the net just before half-time

Venezia continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Forte, 67 minutes in. However, CHI weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Canotto in the 69th minute. Venezia in turn, then responded, on 75 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Di Mariano. The game ended with a 3-1 home victory.

For Venezia, Fiordilino, Johnsen, Ferrarini, Dezi and Svoboda, came on for Crnigoj, Aramu, Mazzocchi, Di Mariano and Taugourdeau. CHI brought on Fabbro, Margiotta, Bertagnoli, Giaccherini and Obi, to replace Di Gaudio, Djordjevic, Mogos, Mattia Viviani and Garritano.

There were bookings for Mazzocchi and Aramu from Venezia, and Garritano and Cotali, for CHI.

Venezia will next play Pisa away, with CHI facing Cremonese at home.
