Salernitana’s 2-1 win over Venezia on Saturday, was hard fought at Stadio Arechi. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Salernitana were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Virtus Entella away (3-0), the other to Frosinone at home (1-0). Venezia, on the other hand, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-0 victory against Nuova Cosenza. As things stand, Salernitana and Venezia sit 19th, (60 points) and 17th, (53 points), in the league respectively, after 34 matches.

Venezia dominated the first half, with a goal from Maleh in the 28th minute, ending the first half 0-1.

Salernitana continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Gondo finding the net, 92 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Gondo made it 2-1 just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.

For Salernitana, Djuric, Capezzi, André Anderson, Jaroszynski and Gondo, came on for Schiavone, Cicerelli, Kupisz, Veseli and Tutino. Venezia brought on Aramu, Esposito and Taugourdeau for Johnsen, Di Mariano and Crnigoj.

There were bookings for Djuric and Veseli from Salernitana, and Modolo, Maleh, Mazzocchi and Crnigoj, for Venezia.

Salernitana next face AC Monza and Venezia are at home to Chievo.
