Boro 2 – Bristol 1: The Robins unable to avoid away defeat

Middlesbrough vs. Bristol City

Bristol City fell to an away defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday. Boro wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers. Bristol, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Cardiff City in their last match. Following today’s result, Boro and Bristol currently occupy 13th and 11th spots in the table, with 6 points and 7 points respectively after 2 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Boro, thanks to Uche Ikpeazu giving Boro the lead in the 38th minute. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0.

Bristol took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Andy King at the 60 minute mark. Boro in turn, then responded in the 70th minute increasing their lead with an effort from Matt Crooks. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Boro.

For Boro, Martin Payero and Souleymane Bamba, came on for Uche Ikpeazu and Isaiah Jones. Bristol brought on Nahki Wells, Saikou Janneh and Tomas Kalas, to replace Kasey Palmer, Alex Scott and Zak Vyner.

The referee booked Robert Atkinson for Bristol.

Boro will play away against Coventry City, while Bristol will face Preston North End at home.
