Empoli’s 4-0 win over Nuova Cosenza on Tuesday, was hard fought at Carlo Castellani. EMP were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Ascoli. NUO had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-0 victory against Pescara. As it stands, EMP are in 1st place on the table and has 70 points while NUO sit in 17th with 35 points after 36 matches.

EMP started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Mancuso opening the rout, on 31 minutes. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from La Mantia, on 39 minutes. The first half ended 2-0.

EMP continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with La Mantia finding the net again at the 61 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Bajrami, on 64 minutes to make it 4-0.

For EMP, Damiani, Moreo, Matos, Bandinelli and Ricci, came on for Štulac, La Mantia, Mancuso, Zurkowski and Haas. NUO brought on Bouah, Trotta, Sueva, Sciaudone and Tiritiello, to replace Corsi, Ba, Gliozzi, Carretta and Antzoulas.

There were bookings for Mancuso and Haas from EMP. For NUO, Idda saw yellow.

EMP will next travel to Salernitana, while NUO will face AC Monza at home.
