Sassuolo defeat Lazio 2-0 on Sunday at the MAPEI Stadium. Sassuolo were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Lazio were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Roma. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the Serie A season, Sassuolo and Lazio are 8th (59 points) and 6th (68 points) in the table respectively, after a total of 38 matches.

Neroverdi started strongly in the first half, thanks to Giorgos Kyriakopoulos finding the net, 10 minutes in, ending the first half 1-0.

Sassuolo continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Domenico Berardi finding the net after 78 minutes. The game ended with a 2-0 home victory.

For Sassuolo, Francesco Caputo, Hamed Junior Traore, Rogerio, Kaan Ayhan and Mehdi Bourabia, came on for Gregoire Defrel, Filip Djuricic, Jeremie Boga, Jeremy Toljan and Maxime Lopez. Lazio brought on Mohamed Fares, Gonzalo Escalante, Raul Moro, Nicolo Armini and Marco Bertini, to replace Joaquin Correa, Lucas Leiva, Jean Akpa, Manuel Lazzari and Danilo Cataldi.

The referee booked Giorgos Kyriakopoulos from Sassuolo and Giorgos Kyriakopoulos (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while Lazio’s Marco Parolo also received a yellow.
