Roma vs. Fiorentina

Roma made a fine start in the new Serie A campaign with victory against Fiorentina. Today’s result, Roma and Fiorentina sit 2nd, (3 points) and 17th, (0 points), in the league respectively, after 1 match.

It was an impressive opening from Giallorossi, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan finding the net in the 26th minute, finishing the first half 1-0.

The Purple One took the initiative in the second half, thanks to Nikola Milenkovic finding the net, at 60 minutes. However, each side looked hungry to win and Roma then found the back of the net at the 64 minute mark thanks to Jordan Veretout, taking the score to 2-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Jordan Veretout made it 3-1 at the 79 minute mark with a final score of 3-1.

For Roma, Eldor Shomurodov, Carles Perez, Stephan El Shaarawy and Edoardo Bove, came on for Tammy Abraham, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jordan Veretout. Fiorentina brought on Pietro Terracciano, Gaetano Castrovilli, Marco Benassi, Riccardo Sottil and Riccardo Saponara, to replace Jose Callejon, Youssef Maleh, Giacomo Bonaventura, Lorenzo Venuti and Nicolas Gonzalez.

Roma and Fiorentina played a tough game where the referee sanctioned Roma with yellow cards to Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Zaniolo and with red card to Nicolo Zaniolo (2 yellow cards), while from Fiorentina Giacomo Bonaventura and Erick Pulgar were booked and red to Bartlomiej Dragowski.

In the second round of action in the Serie A Roma will travel to play Salernitana and Fiorentina will play Torino at home.
