Napoli 2 – Venezia 0- Visitors unable to get win at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Napoli made a fine start in the new Serie A campaign with win against Venezia. Today’s result, Napoli are in 4th place, with 3 points from 1 match, while Venezia sit in 19th, with 0 points from 1.

After a goalless first half, Napoli applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Lorenzo Insigne, 62 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Eljif Elmas, 72 minutes in to make it 2-0.

For Napoli, Eljif Elmas, Hirving Lozano, Gianluca Gaetano and Andrea Petagna, came on for Piotr Zielinski, Matteo Politano, Fabian Ruiz and Lorenzo Insigne. Venezia brought on Michael Svoboda, Arnor Sigurdsson, Tanner Tessmann, Nicolas Galazzi and Jacopo Dezi, to replace Tyronne Ebuehi, Francesco Di Mariano, Luca Fiordilino, Dor Peretz and Daan Heymans.

The referee booked nine players. Fabian Ruiz from Napoli, who saw yellow cards and Victor Osimhen, sent off with a red, as well as for Venezia Luca Fiordilino, Mattia Caldara, Daan Heymans, Tyronne Ebuehi, Francesco Forte, Pietro Ceccaroni and Tanner Tessmann received yellows.

In the second round of action in the Serie A, both Venezia and Napoli will play away against Udinese and Genoa respectively.
