Juve 0 – Empoli 1: The Old Lady unable to stop visitors getting win

Juventus vs. Empoli

Juve were defeated at home by Empoli at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday. Juve were looking for a victory following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Udinese in their previous game while Empoli were beaten 3-1 in the previous match against Lazio. As it stands, Juve are in 12th place on the table and has 1 point while Empoli sit in 10th with 3 points after 2 matches.

Empoli started the first half well, thanks to Leonardo Mancuso giving Azzurri the lead, 21 minutes in. The score at half time was 0-1. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 1-0.

For Juve, Alvaro Morata, Federico Bernardeschi, Manuel Locatelli, Dejan Kulusevski and Mattia De Sciglio, came on for Weston McKennie, Adrien Rabiot, Federico Chiesa, Rodrigo Bentancur and Juan Cuadrado. Empoli brought on Leo Stulac, Andrea Pinamonti, Liam Henderson and Szymon Zurkowski, to replace Nedim Bajrami, Leonardo Mancuso, Patrick Cutrone and Filippo Bandinelli.

There were bookings for Federico Bernardeschi and Danilo from Juve, and Petar Stojanovic, Patrick Cutrone and Ardian Ismajli, for Empoli.

Juve will next play Napoli away, with Empoli facing Venezia at home.
