On Wednesday, Roma suffer an away defeat to Internazionale at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Both Inter and Roma arrived on the back of wins. Inter were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Sampdoria at home (5-1), the other to Crotone away (2-0). Roma were looking to extend their winning run after a 5-0 victory against Crotone. As things stand, Inter and Roma currently occupy 1st and 7th spots in the league, with 88 points and 58 points respectively after 36 matches.
It was an impressive opening from Inter, thanks to a goal from Marcelo Brozovic in the 11th minute. Nerazzurri looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Matias Vecino at the 20 minute mark to establish a 2-0. Giallorossi in turn, then responded, on 31 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, finishing the first half 2-1.
Inter continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Romelu Lukaku just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 3-1.
