Hellas Verona strolled past Spezia Calcio with a 4-0 win on Sunday at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. Verona arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 3-3 draw with Genoa in their previous game whilst Spezia were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against AC Milan. Following today’s result, Verona and Spezia currently occupy 12th and 19th spots in the league, with 8 points and 4 points respectively after 7 matches.

Verona started the first half well, with an early goal from Giovanni Simeone in the 4th minute. The Yellow and Blues looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Davide Faraoni, 15 minutes in to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Gianluca Caprari just before half-time. The score at half time was 3-0.

Verona continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Daniel Bessa finding the net, at 71 minutes so at full time it was 4-0 to Verona.

For Verona, Mert Cetin, Federico Ceccherini, Adrien Tameze, Giangiacomo Magnani and Nikola Kalinic, came on for Davide Faraoni, Koray Gunter, Gianluca Caprari, Nicolo Casale and Daniel Bessa. Spezia brought on Aimar Sher, M’bala Nzola and David Strelec, to replace Kelvin Amian, Suf Podgoreanu and Janis Antiste.

The referee booked Gianluca Caprari from Verona. Spezia had the worst of it though, with Salva Ferrer seeing yellow, and Simone Bastoni then sent off with a red.
