Atalanta enjoyed a mesmerising away victory against Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday. Both Genoa and Atalanta arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Genoa were looking to continue their run, following a 2-0 victory against Bologna whilst Atalanta were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Benevento and Parma. Following today’s result, Genoa are in 14th place on the table and has 39 points while Atalanta sit in 2nd with 78 points after 37 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Goddess, with a goal from Duvan Zapata, 9 minutes in. The momentum was now with Atalanta, who then scored again through a goal from Ruslan Malinovskyi, 26 minutes in to establish a 2-0. The Goddess then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Robin Gosens just before half-time and seeing the first half out 0-3.

The Griffin started the second half with renewed vigour, thanks to an early goal from Eldor Shomurodov in the 48th minute. However, Atalanta increased their lead following a Mario Pasalic goal at the 51 minute mark to make it 4-1. However, Genoa weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Goran Pandev in the 67th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Eldor Shomurodov made it 4-3 in the 84th minute with a final score of 4-3.

For Genoa, Eldor Shomurodov, Giuseppe Caso, Goran Pandev, Manolo Portanova and Steeve Mike Eboua Ebongue, came on for Francesco Cassata, Miha Zajc, Mattia Destro, Paolo Ghiglione and Filippo Melegoni. Atalanta brought on Matteo Pessina, Mario Pasalic, Sam Lammers, Jose Luis Palomino and Luis Muriel, to replace Remo Freuler, Duvan Zapata, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Robin Gosens and Aleksey Miranchuk.

There were bookings for Nicolo Rovella from Genoa. For Atalanta, Berat Djimsiti and Rafael Toloi saw yellow.

Genoa will next play Cagliari away, with Atalanta facing AC Milan at home.
