Genoa were held to 2-2 draw by Hellas Verona down on Saturday at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Genoa arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a scoreless draw against Torino in their previous match. Hellas Verona were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Parma. Following today’s result, Genoa are in 11th place, with 26 points from 23 matches, while Hellas Verona sit in 9th, with 34 points from 23.

Hellas Verona started strong and were rewarded, following Ivan Ilic opening the scoring in the 17th minute, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Genoa staged a comeback in the second half, beginning with early goal from Eldor Shomurodov in the 48th minute. However, Hellas Verona found the back of the net 2-1 thanks to a goal from Davide Faraoni, 61 minutes in. However, their lead was short lived, with an equalizer from a Milan Badelj just before the final whistle brought Genoa level, levelled the score at 2-2 draw.

For Genoa, Eldor Shomurodov, Luca Pellegrini, Nicolo Rovella, Gianluca Scamacca and Goran Pandev came on for Matteo Lovato, Davide Faraoni, Ivan Ilic, Mattia Zaccagni and Adrien Tameze, while Verona replaced Mert Cetin, Ronaldo Vieira, Miguel Veloso, Daniel Bessa and Stefano Sturaro with Matteo Lovato, Davide Faraoni, Ivan Ilic, Mattia Zaccagni and Adrien Tameze.

There were bookings for Kevin Strootman from Genoa and Mert Cetin for Verona.

Genoa will next travel to Internazionale, while Hellas Verona will face Juventus at home.
