Fiorentina 1 – Napoli 2: The Purple One beaten at home by Gli Azzurri

Fiorentina fell to a home defeat at the hands of Napoli at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday. Both Fiorentina and Napoli arrived at the challenge after previous wins. Fiorentina were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Napoli were coming from consecutive wins against Cagliari and Sampdoria. As the table looks today, Fiorentina are in 5th place, with 12 points from 7 matches, while Napoli sit in 1st, with 21 points from 7.

The Purple One started strongly in the first half, with Lucas Martinez giving Fiorentina the lead in the 28th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Hirving Lozano equalised for Napoli, 38 minutes in to see out the first half 1-1.

Gli Azzurri fought back, thanks to an early goal from Amir Rrahmani in the 50th minute, leaving the final score at 2-1.

For Fiorentina, Riccardo Sottil, Lucas Torreira, Youssef Maleh, Marco Benassi and Aleksandr Kokorin, came on for Jose Callejon, Erick Pulgar, Alfred Duncan, Alvaro Odriozola and Giacomo Bonaventura. Napoli brought on Matteo Politano, Eljif Elmas, Diego Demme, Dries Mertens and Andrea Petagna, to replace Hirving Lozano, Piotr Zielinski, Lorenzo Insigne, Fabian Ruiz and Victor Osimhen.

There were bookings for Giacomo Bonaventura, Lucas Martinez and Erick Pulgar from Fiorentina, and Andre Zambo Anguissa, Mario Rui and Diego Demme, for Napoli.

Fiorentina will next play Venezia away, with Napoli facing Torino at home.
