Bologna 2 – Genoa 2: Victory elusive at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara for both sides

On Tuesday, Bologna and Genoa were held to a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Both sides arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Bologna were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 6-1 to Internazionale. Genoa were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Fiorentina. As the table looks today, Bologna are in 6th place on the table and has 8 points while Genoa sit in 13th with 4 points after 5 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Bologna who started the second half well, with an early goal from Aaron Hickey in the 49th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Mattia Destro in the 55th minute brought The Griffin level. However, each side looked hungry to win and The Greyhounds then found the back of the net, at 85 minutes thanks to Marko Arnautovic, taking the score to 2-1. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Domenico Criscito equalised for Genoa just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 2-2.

For Bologna, Emanuel Vignato, Andreas Olsen, Nicola Sansone and Mitchell Dijks, came on for Musa Barrow, Riccardo Orsolini, Mattias Svanberg and Aaron Hickey. Genoa brought on Valon Behrami, Manolo Portanova, Goran Pandev, Paolo Ghiglione and Zinho Vanheusden, to replace Nicolo Rovella, Mohamed Fares, Hernani, Andrea Cambiaso and Mattia Bani.

There were bookings for Nicolas Dominguez, Kevin Bonifazi and Gary Medel from Bologna. For Genoa, Mohamed Fares, Mattia Destro, Valon Behrami and Zinho Vanheusden saw yellow.

Bologna will next travel to Empoli, while Genoa will face Hellas Verona at home.
