Reading on home loss to Middlesbrough at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. Both Reading and Middlesbrough arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Reading were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Middlesbrough were coming from a 2-1 win against Huddersfield Town. As the table looks today, Reading and Middlesbrough are 5th, (51 points) and 8th, (46 points), in the table respectively, after 31 matches.

Middlesbrough started strongly in the first half, following Ashley Fletcher opening the scoring in the 22nd minute. Later, Middlesbrough took the lead with a goal form a goal from Marc Bola, 29 minutes in, to take a 2-0 lead into half time. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

For Reading Lewis Gibson, Tomas Esteves, George Puscas and Sone Aluko came on for Omar Richards, Alfa Semedo, Ovie Ejaria and Michael Olise, and Middlesbrough brought on Marvin Johnson, Nathaniel Mendez Laing and George Saville for Duncan Watmore, Darnell Fisher and Neeskens Kebano.

There were bookings for Omar Richards and Andy Rinomhota from Reading and Jonny Howson and Ashley Fletcher for Middlesbrough.

Reading will next travel to Wycombe Wanderers, while Middlesbrough will face Bristol City at home.
