QPR snatched all three points from Brentford in a 2-1 victory on Wednesday, at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Queens Park Rangers were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Blackburn Rovers at home (1-0), the other to Watford away (2-1). Brentford were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Barnsley. Following today’s result, Queens Park Rangers are in 16th place on the table and has 36 points while Brentford sit in 2nd with 57 points after 30 matches.

Brentford started strong and were rewarded, beginning with Ivan Toney opening the scoring in the 30th minute, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Queens Park Rangers continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, thanks to Sam Field opening the scoring, 72 minutes in. Later, Queens Park Rangers took the lead with a goal form a goal from Charlie Austin in the 76th minute. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for Queens Park Rangers.

For Queens Park Rangers Sam Field, Chris Willock and Osman Kakay came on for Dominic Ball, Lyndon Dykes and Lee Wallace, while Brentford brought on Bryan Mbeumo, Saman Ghoddos, Mads Roerslev Rasmussen and Marcus Forss to replace Tarique Fosu, Joshua Da Silva, Henrik Dalsgaard and Vitaly Janelt.

There were bookings for Todd Kane, Dominic Ball, Rob Dickie, Geoff Cameron and Seny Dieng from QPR and Ivan Toney for Brentford.

Queens Park Rangers will play their next fixture at home against Bournemouth, while Brentford will face Coventry City away.
