Man U started the second half with renewed vigour, with Mason Greenwood finding the net in the 55th minute, leaving the final score at 1-1.
Both managers used all available substitutions. For Soton, Jan Bednarek, Ibrahima Diallo and Kyle Walker-Peters, came on for Theo Walcott, Moussa Djenepo and Romain Perraud, Man U brought on Jadon Sancho, Scott Mctominay and Jesse Lingard to replace Anthony Martial, Fred and Nemanja Matic.
