On Saturday, Liverpool and Newcastle were held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield. Liverpool wanted to continue adding points following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Leeds United in their previous game whilst Newcastle were coming from consecutive wins against West Ham United and Burnley. As it stands, Liverpool are in 6th place on the table and has 54 points while Newcastle sit in 15th with 36 points after 33 matches.
The first half of the game started favourably for Liverpool, with an early goal from Mohamed Salah in the 3rd minute to see out the first half 1-0.
Newcastle took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Joseph Willock just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-1.
For Liverpool, James Milner and Curtis Jones, came on for Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara. Newcastle brought on Callum Wilson, Joseph Willock and Dwight Gayle, to replace Joelinton, Ciaran Clark and Miguel Almiron.
There were bookings for Ozan Kabak and Fabinho from Liverpool, and Federico Fernandez, for Newcastle.
Liverpool will next travel to Manchester United, while Newcastle will face Arsenal at home.
