Liverpool were held to 1-1 draw by Chelsea down on Saturday at Anfield. Both Liverpool and Chelsea arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Liverpool were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Burnley at home and Norwich City away, by 2-0 and 3-0 respectively whilst Chelsea were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Arsenal and Crystal Palace. As the table looks today, both teams are on 7 points and sit in 3rd and 2nd places respectively after 3 matches.
Chelsea found the net first, thanks to Kai Havertz finding the net at the 22 minute mark. However, their lead was short lived, as Mohamed Salah equalised for Liverpool just before half-time, which saw the first half end 1-1. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-1 at full time.
Both teams used all available substitutes. For Liverpool, Diogo Jota, Thiago and Kostas Tsimikas, came on for Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson, Chelsea brought on Thiago Silva, Mateo Kovacic and Trevoh Chalobah to replace Kai Havertz, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
Liverpool will next travel to Leeds United, while Chelsea will face Aston Villa at home.
