Chelsea strolled past Aston Villa with a 3-0 win on Saturday at Stamford Bridge. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Chelsea wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Liverpool in their previous game whilst Villa are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As it stands, Chelsea are in 2nd place, with 10 points from 4 matches, while Villa sit in 12th, with 4 points from 4.

Chelsea found the net first, with Romelu Lukaku opening the rout at the 15 minute mark, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Chelsea staged a comeback in the second half, with an early goal from Mateo Kovacic in the 49th minute. The Blues then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a second effort from Romelu Lukaku just before the final whistle to make it 3-0.

Chelsea brought on Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta and Timo Werner for Saul Niguez, Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Villa brought on Leon Bailey, Bertrand Traore and Marvelous Nakamba, to replace Jacob Ramsey, Danny Ings and Douglas Luiz.

There were bookings for Marcos Alonso from Chelsea. For Villa, Jacob Ramsey, Tyrone Mings, Matt Targett and John McGinn saw yellow.
