West Bromwich Albion cruise to win vs. Chelsea 5-2 on Saturday at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea had been hopeful of continuing their run after winning last match. West Brom lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Everton. As the table looks today, Chelsea and West Brom are 4th, (51 points) and 19th, (21 points), in the table respectively, after 30 matches.
The Blues started the first half well, with a goal from Christian Pulisic, on 27 minutes. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Matheus Pereira at the 45 minute mark brought West Brom level. West Brom then scored once more and turned the match thanks to a second effort from Matheus Pereira just before half-time, finalising the first half 1-2.
The Baggies continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Callum Robinson finding the net in the 63rd minute. The momentum was now with West Brom, who then scored again through a goal from Mbaye Diagne at the 68 minute mark to establish a 4-1. However, Chelsea weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Mason Mount in the 71st minute. In the end though, The Baggies secured the points emphatically, with a 2nd effort from Callum Robinson just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 5-2.
As for substitutions, for Chelsea, Andreas Christensen, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz, came on for Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Jorginho, West Brom brought on Branislav Ivanovic, Callum Robinson and Jake Livermore, to replace Dara O’Shea, Branislav Ivanovic and Matt Phillips.
The referee booked Thiago Silva and Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea and Thiago Silva (2 yellow cards) went off with a red card, while West Brom’s Mbaye Diagne also received a yellow.
Chelsea will play their next fixture away against Crystal Palace, while West Brom will face Southampton at home.
