Preston eased past Birmingham City in a 1-0 victory on Wednesday at St Andrew’s Stadium. Birmingham City were looking to pick up points, following a 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough. Preston North End lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Bristol City. After today’s result, Birmingham City and Preston North End sit 19th, (26 points) and 10th, (35 points), in the table respectively, after 25 matches.

After a goalless first half, Preston North End continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Scott Sinclair, 61 minutes in. The game ended with a 1-0 victory for Preston North End.

Both coaches used allfull available substitutions. For Birmingham, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Jonathan Leko, Gary Gardner and Alen Halilovic came on for Scott Hogan, Jon Toral, Ivan Sanchez and Jeremie Bela, while Preston brought on Tom Barkhuizen and Daniel Johnson to replace Scott Sinclair and Jayson Molumby.

The referee booked George Friend and Gary Gardner for Birmingham City.

Birmingham City will next travel to Wycombe Wanderers, while Preston North End will face Reading at home.
