Norwich enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Brentford at Carrow Road on Wednesday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Norwich City were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Wycombe Wanderers away (2-0), the other to Birmingham City away (3-1). Brentford were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday. As it stands, Norwich City and Brentford sit 1st, (73 points) and 2nd, (63 points), spots respectively, after 34 matches.

Norwich City started strong and were rewarded, beginning with a goal from Emiliano Buendia in the 26th minute and managed to see out the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

For Norwich, Lukas Rupp, Jakob Lungi Sorensen and Jordan Hugill came on for Sergi Canos, Vitaly Janelt, Winston Reid and Saman Ghoddos, while Brentford replaced Tarique Fosu, Christian Norgaard, Mads Roerslev Rasmussen and Marcus Forss with Sergi Canos, Vitaly Janelt, Winston Reid and Saman Ghoddos.
