Sporting Kansas City fell to an away defeat at the hands of Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place Stadium on Monday. As the table looks today, Caps and Kansas currently occupy 8th and 2nd spots in the league, with 40 points and 52 points respectively after 40 matches.
The Village started the game well, with Gauld finding the net in the 23rd minute. The momentum was now with Caps, who then scored again through a goal from Teibert, 37 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However, Kansas hit back though just before half-time, with a goal from Russell, to take a 2-1 lead into half time. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 2-1 at full time.
Both teams used all available substitutes. For Caps, Bikel, Godinho, Ricketts, Caicedo and Jakob Nerwinski, came on for Owusu, Bruno Gaspar, Brian White, Dájome and Veselinovic, Kansas brought on Espinoza, to replace Mauri.
There were bookings for Brian White and Jakob Nerwinski from Caps. For Kansas, Ilie, Kinda and Walter saw yellow.
