Vancouver Whitecaps cruise to win vs. Real Salt Lake 4-1 on Monday at BC Place Stadium. Following today’s result, Caps and RSL currently occupy 8th and 6th spots in the league, with 26 points and 27 points respectively after 30 matches.
Caps started the game well, with Marcelo Silva opening the rout at the 33 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-0.
The Village started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with a goal from Brian White, at 53 minutes. The Village looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Gauld, 64 minutes in to establish a 3-0. The momentum was now with Caps, who then scored again through a goal from Jungwirth, 69 minutes in to establish a 4-0. In the end though, RSL secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Julio just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 4-1.
For Caps, Metcalfe, Ricketts, Caicedo, Raposo and Godinho, came on for Brown, Brian White, Gauld, Owusu and Veselinovic. RSL brought on Chang, Julio and Everton, to replace Meram, Nick Besler and Ruiz.
There were bookings for Brown from Caps. For RSL, Powder, Rusnák and Marcelo Silva saw yellow.
