Caps 2 – Austin 1- Visitors to BC Place Stadium leave with nothing

Austin fell to an away defeat at the hands of Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place Stadium on Sunday. As the table looks today, Caps and Austin currently occupy 11th and 13th spots in the league, with 17 points and 13 points respectively after 21 matches.

Los Verdes started strongly in the first half, thanks to a goal from Driussi just before half-time, seeing out the first half 0-1.

Caps continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Godoy in the 70th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Caicedo, 83 minutes in to make it 2-1.

For Caps, Caicedo, Metcalfe, Veselinovic and Ricketts, came on for Bruno Gaspar, Owusu, Bikel and Brian White. Austin brought on Romaña, Kleemann, Djitte, Stroud, Manneh and Redes, to replace Gallagher, Domínguez, Besler, Driussi, Pochettino and Jiménez.

There were bookings for Caicedo from Caps. For Austin, Fagundez and Kleemann saw yellow.

Austin and Caps will next play at home to Colorado Rapids and Minnesota United respectively.
