On Thursday, Phili and Union were held to a 2-2 draw at BMO Field. Following today’s result, Phili and Union currently occupy 13th and 3rd spots in the table, with 27 points and 50 points respectively after 43 matches.
Union started strongly in the first half, thanks to an early goal from Bedoya in the 1st minute, finalising the first half 0-1.
Phili took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Altidore at the 67 minute mark. Phili looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Elliott at the 70 minute mark to establish a 2-1. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Santos equalised for Union, 77 minutes in. The game ended 2-2.
Both teams used all available substitutes. For Phili, Marshall-Ruty, Nelson and Morrow, came on for Osorio, Shaffelburg and Mavinga, Union brought on Santos, Jack Mcglynn and Bueno, to replace Gazdag, Leon Flach and Bedoya.
There were bookings for Mavinga from Phili, and José Martinez, for Union.
Phili will next play Atlanta United away, with Union facing Cincinnati at home.
