Kansas 1 – RSL 2:Real Salt Lake squeeze past Sporting Kansas City in 2-1 victory at Children’s Mercy Park

RSL won 2-1 against to Kansas in their meeting of the Conference Semifinals held this Sunday at Children’s Mercy Park and have qualified for the final. This match brings RSL closer and closer to winning the championship: there are only two games left until the end of the tournament and right now the team could become Conference champion if they win the next match.

Wizards dominated the first half, thanks to Russell giving Kansas the lead at the 24 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-0.

RSL continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Julio at the 72 minute mark. RSL then scored again and turned the match thanks to a goal from Wood just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-1.

For Kansas, Espinoza and Shelton, came on for Kinda and Pulido. RSL replaced Julio, Meram and Wood with Menéndez, Chang and Méndez.

The referee booked Everton for RSL.

This victory will please Claret and Cobalt to maintain this winning form as they advance in the competition, whilst Kansas must now wait another season to try again.
