Sporting Kansas City strolled past Chicago Fire with a 2-0 win on Sunday at Children’s Mercy Park. After today’s result, Kansas are in 2nd place, with 43 points from 32 matches, while Chicago sit in 12th, with 23 points from 32.
Kansas started strongly in the first half, thanks to an early goal from Mauri in the 4th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Russell 6 minutes into the game to secure a 2-0 win. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.
Both coaches used allfull available substitutions. For Kansas, Shelton and Duke, came on for Mauri and Pulido, Chicago brought on Espinoza, Offor, Navarro and Aliseda, to replace Sekulić, Berić, Pineda and Ivanov.
The referee booked Stojanović, Navarro and Navarro for Chicago.
