Seattle Sounders strolled past Vancouver Whitecaps with a 4-1 win on Sunday at CenturyLink Field. After today’s result, Seattle are in 1st place on the table and has 48 points while Caps sit in 9th with 29 points after 33 matches.
It was an impressive opening from The Sounders, with O’Neill opening the rout early in the first half. The momentum was now with Seattle, who then scored again through a goal from Benezet at the 14 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Caps secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Brian White just before half-time to see out the first half 2-1.
Seattle continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Bruin finding the net, at 56 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Leo Chú made it 4-1 just before the final whistle to make it 4-1.
Both teams used all available substitutes. For Seattle, Leyva and Leo Chú, came on for Benezet and Abdoulaye Cissoko, Caps brought on Godinho, Bikel, Baldisimo and Ricketts to replace Owusu, Metcalfe, Teibert and Dájome.
There were bookings for Gómez and Benezet from Seattle, and Bruno Gaspar and Gauld, for Caps.
