Sampdoria fell to an away defeat at the hands of Sassuolo at the MAPEI Stadium on Saturday. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Sassuolo were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against AC Milan away and Fiorentina at home, by 2-1 and 3-1 respectively whilst Sampdoria were coming from consecutive wins against Crotone and Hellas Verona. As the table looks today, Sassuolo and Sampdoria currently occupy 8th and 9th spots in the league, with 52 points and 42 points respectively after 33 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Neroverdi piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Domenico Berardi finding the net in the 69th minute, leaving the final score at 1-0.
For Sassuolo, Jeremie Boga, Mert Muldur, Rogerio, Pedro Obiang and Francesco Magnanelli, came on for Marlon, Jeremy Toljan, Giorgos Kyriakopoulos, Gregoire Defrel and Domenico Berardi. Sampdoria brought on Antonio La Gumina, Mehdi Leris and Kristoffer Askildsen, to replace Manolo Gabbiadini, Jakub Jankto and Mikkel Damsgaard.
