Seattle Sounders beat San Jose with a thumping 3-1 victory on Thursday at Avaya Stadium. Following today’s result, San Jose are in 10th place, with 33 points from 37 matches, while Seattle sit in 1st, with 51 points from 37.
The Sounders started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Ruidíaz giving Seattle the lead at the 25 minute mark. Seattle then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a penalty second effort from Ruidíaz just before half-time. The score at half time was 0-2.
Seattle staged a comeback in the second half, thanks to an early goal from Roldan in the 50th minute. Quakes in turn, then responded, 51 minutes in increasing their lead with an effort from O’Neill and seeing the game end 3-1.
For San Jose, Cowell, Abecasis, Rios, Wondolowski and Jack Skahan, came on for Alanís, Judson, Salinas, Fierro and Chofis Lopez. Seattle replaced Paulo, Leo Chú, Tolo, Abdoulaye Cissoko and Bruin with Arreaga, Atencio, Ruidíaz, Medranda and Montero.
There were bookings for Judson from San Jose. For Seattle, Ruidíaz and Roldan saw yellow.
