San Jose Earthquakes – Sporting Kansas City: Wizards, fearless, go to Avaya Stadium and win

Sporting Kansas City snatched all three points from San Jose Earthquakes in a 3-1 victory on Sunday, at Avaya Stadium. As the table looks today, San Jose and Kansas are 7th, (9 points) and 2nd, (13 points), in the league respectively, after 9 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Quakes, thanks to an early goal from López in the 5th minute. However, their lead was short lived, as Lindsey equalised for Wizards, 15 minutes in. The first half ended 1-1.

Kansas continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Pulido in the 61st minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Salloi, on 75 minutes to make it 3-1.

For San Jose, Salinas, Fierro, Wondolowski, Abecasis and Benjamin Kikanovic, came on for Thompson, López, Rios, Marie and Cowell. Kansas replaced Walter and Russell with Espinoza and Pulido.

There were bookings for Espinoza and Rios from San Jose, and Lindsey, for Kansas.

San Jose will next travel to LA Galaxy, while Kansas will face Houston Dynamo at home.
