Sampdoria 3-1 Hellas Verona – The Yellow and Blues unable to avoid narrow defeat away to The Blue-circled (3-1)

Hellas Verona on away loss to Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Sampdoria were looking to get back winning ways, following a previous defeat to Napoli. Verona lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Lazio. As it stands, Sampdoria are in 10th place on the table and has 39 points while Verona sit in 9th with 41 points after 31 matches.

Verona started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Darko Lazovic finding the net at the 13 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Jakub Jankto equalised for Sampdoria just before half-time. The score at half time was 1-1.

The Blue-circled rallied after this and were rewarded, with Manolo Gabbiadini finding the net, 73 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Morten Thorsby made it 3-1 at the 82 minute mark to make it 3-1.

For Sampdoria, Keita Balde, Manolo Gabbiadini, Antonio Candreva and Lorenzo Tonelli, came on for Valerio Verre, Antonio La Gumina, Mikkel Damsgaard and Jakub Jankto. Verona brought on Adrien Tameze, Daniel Bessa, Andrea Favilli, Matteo Lovato and Ebrima Colley for Stefano Sturaro, Mattia Zaccagni, Antonin Barak, Koray Gunter and Eddie Salcedo.

There were bookings for Valerio Verre, Keita Balde and Maya Yoshida from Sampdoria, and Davide Faraoni, Adrien Tameze and Pawel Dawidowicz, for Verona.

Sampdoria will next play Crotone away, with Verona facing Fiorentina at home.
