RSL 3 – San Jose 4: Quakes jubilant after away win against Claret and Cobalt

San Jose beats Real Salt Lake 4-3 on Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium. Following today’s result, RSL and San Jose currently occupy 7th and 10th spots in the table, with 45 points and 40 points respectively after 44 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Claret and Cobalt, thanks to Rusnák finding the net at the 10 minute mark. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Fierro producing an equaliser, 37 minutes in, bringing San Jose level. Quakes then scored again and turned the match thanks to a goal from Wondolowski just before half-time. The score at half time was 1-2.

Quakes continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Cowell at the 69 minute mark. San Jose looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Yueill at the 80 minute mark to establish a 4-1. However, RSL weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Chang at the 85 minute mark. RSL then netted again and pull-back thanks to a second effort from Rusnák just before the final whistle to make it 4-3.

For RSL, Everton, Chang, Menéndez, Julio and Wood, came on for Ruiz, Meram, Brody, Méndez and Kreilach. San Jose brought on Remedi, Ebobisse, Espinoza, Benjamin Kikanovic and Tanner Beason for Jack Skahan, Rios, Fierro, Cowell and Judson.

There were bookings for Glad from RSL, and Alanís, Yueill, Judson and Espinoza, for San Jose.
