RSL 1 – Austin 0- Victory denied for visitors as Claret and Cobalt win

Real Salt Lake snatched all three points from Austin in a 1-0 victory on Sunday, at Rio Tinto Stadium. After today’s result, RSL are currently 6th with 24 points from 26 matches, while Austin sit in 13th, with 16 points from 26.

RSL scored first, with a goal from Wood in the 32nd minute, to take a 1-0 lead into half time. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 1-0.

For RSL, Ruiz, Chang, Méndez, Nick Besler and Toia, came on for Everton, Menéndez, Wood, Meram and Morgan. Austin replaced Kolmanic, Pereira, Driussi, Jiménez and Domínguez for Nick Lima, Romaña, Gallagher, Stanley and Redes.

The referee booked Morgan from RSL. Austin had the worst of it though, with Ring seeing yellow, and Cascante then sent off with a red.

Austin and RSL will next play at home to Vancouver Whitecaps and Houston Dynamo respectively.
