Portland Timbers fell to a home defeat at the hands of Vancouver Whitecaps at Providence Park on Thursday. As the table looks today, Portland are currently 4th with 46 points from 41 matches, while Caps sit in 7th, with 43 points from 41.
Portland started the first half well, thanks to Chará finding the net, 15 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Asprilla made it 2-0 just before half-time, finalising the first half 2-0.
Caps continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Caicedo finding the net, 63 minutes in. The Village looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Brian White at the 76 minute mark to establish a 2-2. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Dájome at the 81 minute mark to make it 3-2.
For Portland, Moreno, Valeri, Niezgoda, Loria and Mcgraw, came on for Blanco, Mora, Chará, Bonilla and Van Rankin. Caps brought on Dájome, Bruno Gaspar, Brian White, Owusu and Veselinovic, to replace Brown, Godinho, Cavallini, Teibert and Gauld.
There were bookings for Paredes from Portland, and Brian White, for Caps.
Next up, Portland are away to Colorado Rapids, whilst Caps will travel to face San Jose.
