Portland Timbers’ 2-0 win over San Jose on Thursday, was hard fought at Providence Park. After today’s result, Portland and San Jose currently occupy 4th and 10th spots in the league, with 49 points and 37 points respectively after 43 matches.
The Timbers started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Chará giving Portland the lead at the 34 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-0.
Portland started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to Asprilla finding the net in the 55th minute, leaving the final score at 2-0.
For Portland, Fochive, Blanco, Niezgoda and Loria, came on for Paredes, Moreno, Mora and Asprilla. San Jose brought on Marie, López, Wondolowski, Cowell and Fierro, to replace Rios, Thompson, Remedi, Benjamin Kikanovic and Espinoza.
There were bookings for Paredes, Chará and Asprilla from Portland. For San Jose, Chofis Lopez and Remedi saw yellow.
