Portland 2 – Los Angeles 1: The Timbers prevail in home win against The Black and Gold

Portland Timbers eased past Los Angeles FC in a 2-1 victory on Monday at Providence Park. Following today’s result, Portland are in 5th place on the table and has 37 points while Los Angeles sit in 8th with 33 points after 34 matches.

Portland dominated the first half, with Asprilla finding the net, at 21 minutes. However, their lead was short lived, as Arango equalised for Los Angeles at the 27 minute mark to see out the first half 1-1.

The Timbers continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Fochive finding the net, at 68 minutes. The game ended 2-1 to Portland.

For Portland, Valeri, Fochive, Moreno, Loria and Niezgoda, came on for Paredes, Asprilla, Chará, Blanco and Mora. Los Angeles brought on Danny Musovski, Blessing, Palacios and Bryce Duke, to replace Ginella, Edwards, Ibeagha and Cifuentes.

The referee booked Mabiala, Blanco, Bravo and Valeri for Portland.
