Portland Timbers strolled past Los Angeles FC with a 2-1 win on Thursday at Providence Park. After today’s result, Portland are in 6th place on the table and has 19 points while Los Angeles sit in 5th with 21 points after 19 matches.
It was an impressive opening from Portland, thanks to an early goal from Valeri in the 2nd minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Vela equalised for Los Angeles in the 17th minute, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.
The Timbers rallied after this and were rewarded, with Mora giving Portland the lead just before the final whistle so at full time it was 2-1 to Portland.
For Portland, Asprilla, Paredes, Mora, Blanco and Bodily, came on for Loria, Fochive, Ebobisse, Chará and Bonilla. Los Angeles replaced Moon Hwan Kim, Ginella, Palacios and Vela for Baird, Bryce Duke, Edwards and Rodríguez.
The referee booked Paredes for Portland.
