Portland 3 – RSL 2- Home fans rewarded with victory at Providence Park

On Sunday, Real Salt Lake suffer an away defeat to Portland Timbers at Providence Park. As the table looks today, Portland are in 7th place on the table and has 23 points while RSL sit in 8th with 21 points after 24 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Timbers, with Asprilla giving Portland the lead, 10 minutes in. The momentum was now with Portland, who then scored again through a goal from Chará at the 29 minute mark to establish a 2-0. RSL in turn, then responded just before half-time increasing their lead with an effort from Rusnák, finalising the first half 2-1.

The Timbers continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Mora in the 62nd minute. In the end though, Claret and Cobalt at the 80 minute mark pull-back following a Kreilach goal. The game ended 3-2 to Portland.

For Portland, Blanco, Valeri, Mabiala and Mcgraw, came on for Loria, Asprilla, Chará and Mora. RSL brought on Powder, Wood and Chang, to replace Toia, Everton and Menéndez.

There were bookings for Valeri from Portland. For RSL, Glad, Menéndez, Everton, Herrera and Chang saw yellow.
