NYC is done with square the final after beating this Sunday at Subaru Park to the Union by a score of 2-1. It’s an important achievement for NYC, as they will qualified to the next stage of the competition, the Grand Final of the Championship. In their next game, the Conference Champions will try to get the title.
After a goalless first half, Union fought back the second half, thanks to a goal from Callens in the 63rd minute. NYC then went on to level the score at 1-1 in the 65th minute, thanks to a goal from Moralez. The Pigeons then netted again and turned the match thanks to a goal from Talles Magno just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.
Both managers used all full available substitutions. For Union, Bueno, Fontana and Aaronson, came on for Jack Mcglynn, Harriel and Leon Flach, NYC brought on Thórarinsson, Talles Magno and Ismael Tajouri to replace Amundsen, Heber and Medina.
There were bookings for Jamiro Monteiro and Mbaizo from Union. For NYC, Moralez saw yellow.
This victory will please NYC to maintain this winning form as they advance in the competition, whilst Union must now wait another season to try again.
