Union 3 – Portland 0- Heavy loss for The Timbers at Subaru Park

On Monday, Portland Timbers suffer an away defeat to Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park. After today’s result, Union are in 2nd place on the table and has 14 points while Portland sit in 8th with 9 points after 10 matches.

Union started the game well, with Przybyłko opening the rout at the 26 minute mark. Union then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Santos, 32 minutes in to see out the first half 2-0.

Union continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Elliott finding the net, on 63 minutes. The final result, Union 3, Portland 0.

For Union, Burke, Aaronson, Sullivan and Fontana, came on for Santos, Leon Flach, Bedoya and Przybyłko. Portland brought on Mcgraw, Asprilla, Zambrano and Bonilla, to replace Loria, Mora, Van Rankin and Valeri.

There were bookings for Mbaizo from Union. For Portland, Župarić and Bravo saw yellow.
