Orlando City fell to a home defeat at the hands of Montréal at Exploria Stadium on Thursday. After today’s result, Orlando are currently 3rd with 38 points from 32 matches, while MON sit in 6th, with 34 points from 32.
MON dominated the first half, thanks to Choiniere finding the net, at 18 minutes. The momentum was now with MON, who then scored again through a goal from Quioto at the 37 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Orlando pull-back just before half-time, with a goal from Jansson to see out the first half 1-2.
The Lions took the initiative in the second half, with Ruan finding the net at the 64 minute mark. However, each side looked hungry to win and MON then found the back of the net, at 73 minutes thanks to Lappalainen, taking the score to 3-2. MON then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Ibrahim at the 81 minute mark to make it 4-2.
For Orlando, Mueller, Michel, Akindele and Alvarado, came on for Van De Water, Mueller, Daryl Dike and Mas. MON brought on Ahmed Hamdi, Lappalainen, Ibrahim, Bassong and Maciel, to replace Wanyama, Torres, Quioto, Mihailovic and Choiniere.
The referee booked five players. Nani from Orlando, who saw yellow cards and Nani (2 yellow cards) and Perea, sent off with a red, as well as for MON Wanyama and Waterman also seeing yellows.
