New York Red Bulls beat New York with a thumping 1-0 victory on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. Following today’s result, NYC and Red Bulls sit 3rd, (39 points) and 11th, (30 points), in the league respectively, after 35 matches.
Red Bulls started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Fernandez giving Metro the lead just before half-time, seeing out the first half 0-1. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.
For NYC, Rodríguez, Medina, Heber and Amundsen, came on for Talles Magno, Ismael Tajouri, Thórarinsson and Callens. Red Bulls brought on Barlow, Andrés Reyes and Carmona, to replace Klimala, Edwards and Fernandez.
There were bookings for Sands and Castellanos from NYC. For Red Bulls, John Tolkin and Duncan saw yellow.
NYC will next travel to Chicago Fire, while Red Bulls will face Philadelphia Union at home.
