NYC 6 – D.C. 0: Easy win for The Pigeons, as Black-and-Red are humbled

D.C. United on away loss to NYC at Yankee Stadium on Sunday. After today’s result, NYC and D.C. currently occupy 6th and 9th spots in the league, with 44 points and 41 points respectively after 41 matches.

The Pigeons started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Andrade in the 1st minute. NYC looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Castellanos 7 minutes into the game to establish a 2-0. The momentum was now with NYC, who then scored again through a 2nd effort from Castellanos at the 11 minute mark to establish a 3-0. NYC then scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Moralez just before half-time. The score at half time was 4-0.

The Pigeons started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with Callens finding the net, at 52 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Medina made it 6-0 at the 75 minute mark with a final score of 6-0.

For NYC, Heber, Gray, Medina, Zelalem and Talles Magno, came on for Callens, Castellanos, Moralez, Morales and Andrade. D.C. replaced Chris Odoi-Atsem, Skundrich, Griffin Yow, Ábila and Felipe Martins with Julian Gressel, Paredes, Canouse, Pines and Kamara.

There were bookings for Sands from NYC, and Canouse and Birnbaum, for D.C.
