NY Red Bulls 1 – NYC 1: Home advantage cancelled out by visitors

On Thursday, Red Bulls and NYC were held to a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena. Both teams arrived on the back of wins. Red Bulls were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. NYC were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Cincinnati in their last match. Following today’s result, Red Bulls are in 11th place on the table and has 26 points while NYC sit in 3rd with 38 points after 28 matches.

The Pigeons started strongly in the first half, thanks to Castellanos giving NYC the lead at the 31 minute mark, seeing out the first half 0-1.

Red Bulls took the lead in the second half, with an early penalty goal from Klimala in the 102nd minute. The game ended wih a 1-1 draw.

For Red Bulls, Gutman, Yearwood, Duncan, Clark and Amaya, came on for Cásseres, Fernandez, Edwards, Carmona and Yearwood. NYC brought on Acevedo and Amundsen, to replace Medina and Thórarinsson.

The referee booked Davis, Andrés Reyes, Klimala, Duncan and Clark from Red Bulls. NYC had the worst of it though, with Callens, Tinnerholm and Chanot seeing yellow, and Chanot (2 yellow cards) and Parks then sent off with a red.

Red Bulls will play their next fixture away against New York, while NYC will face New York Red Bulls at home.
