Columbus Crew eased past New York in a 2-1 victory on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. As things stand, both teams are on 8 points and occupy 3rd and 6th places respectively after 8 matches.

NYC started strongly in the first half, thanks to Ismael Tajouri giving The Pigeons the lead, 18 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-0.

Columbus continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Zelarayán at the 82 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Zelarayán made it 2-1 just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.

For NYC, Moralez, Gloster, Rocha and Amundsen, came on for Ismael Tajouri, Parks, Thórarinsson and Andres Jasson. Columbus brought on Abdul-Salaam, Fraser and Matan, to replace Francis, Artur and Afful.

There were bookings for Chanot and Ibeagha from NYC, and Pedro Santos, Artur and Díaz, for Columbus.
